What is UX design?
UX design (User Experience Design) is about how a product feels to use: how easily you find your way, how quickly you reach your goal, and how it feels along the way. A UX designer works with user insight, information architecture, flows, and interaction — before the visual interface is ever drawn.
Good UX work reduces risk. Discovering that a solution doesn't work in a prototype is far cheaper than discovering it after launch.
UX, UI, and interaction design — what's the difference?
The terms overlap, and designers working on digital products often cover several of them:
- UX design looks at the experience as a whole: needs, flows, structure, and content.
- UI design (User Interface Design) shapes the visual interface: typography, color, components, and layout.
- Interaction design covers how the user interacts with the interface: states, transitions, and feedback.
From insight to prototype
Every phase of our process builds on user insight and business goals. We first define the foundation through interviews, needs analysis, and competitor research. We then explore concepts using journey mapping and workshops, before building clickable prototypes in Figma and testing them with real users. What survives testing becomes fully specified screens developers can build from directly — at Ur, design and development sit on the same team.
