Sanity CMS
Sanity is a flexible, Norwegian-born headless CMS for modern websites and applications. We build Sanity solutions with tailored studios and fast frontends.
What is Sanity CMS?
Sanity is a headless CMS: content management is separated from presentation, so the same content can power websites, apps, and other channels. Content is structured exactly the way your organization needs it and retrieved through APIs — giving developers the freedom to build custom solutions, and editors a workspace tailored to them.
Sanity was founded in Oslo in 2017 and is today one of the most widely used headless CMSes internationally — with particularly strong roots in the Norwegian development community.
The key building blocks
Three parts set Sanity apart from a traditional CMS:
- Sanity Studio: a React-based editing interface, customized to your organization's content types and workflows.
- Content Lake: a versioned content database optimized for fast, secure retrieval, with traceable changes and real-time collaboration.
- APIs (GROQ and GraphQL): content is fetched programmatically, so the frontend can be built with whatever framework fits best — in our case, usually Next.js.
When is Sanity the right choice?
Sanity fits when content should be reused across surfaces, when editors need a tailored workspace, or when the site is built with modern frameworks without the constraints of a traditional CMS. For simple blog sites, a traditional CMS can still be cheaper to get started with — we're happy to help you weigh the options.
What does Sanity cost?
Sanity has a generous free plan, with paid plans that scale with usage. The license is rarely a significant cost — the investment is in developing the studio and frontend. In return, structured, reusable content yields real savings over time, and your content is ready for new channels and AI-driven surfaces without another migration.
Our experience with Sanity
We build Sanity solutions end to end: content modeling, tailored studio, and a Next.js frontend. Design and development sit on the same team, so the editing experience and the end result stay coherent. Relevant work and articles are listed below.
