Ur was founded in 2019 with the ambition to build a leading technology company working on the development of digital solutions. We are a company that sees the bigger picture and takes your products through a journey from idea through design, development, testing and launch to success.
We are a curious group consisting of consultants, technologists and designers, based in Oslo.

Digital products can be both external, out to the end user, or internal, used by their own employees.
In Ur, we are technology agnostic. We have expertise in a wide range of technologies that allow us to develop a wide range of digital products. At the same time, we specialize in a number of technologies that affect a large proportion of all projects carried out today.
Digital product development is changing from a technological perspective at an accelerating pace. The technologies used 10 years ago are completely different from what we use today.
At Ur we are busy keeping up to date with the latest. We are not afraid to adopt new technologies that significantly improve our efficiency, to give you results faster and cheaper.
Much of what we do is “consumer-grade”. That is, digital products that are ultimately to be interacted with and used by consumers.
Digital products for consumers must createmaintain the highest level of quality and ease of use. It must be tested both before, during and after launch, and iterated on an ongoing basis. The class on everything from appearance to usability to system architecture to implementation needs to be as high as possible.
At Ur, we have more experience in creating digital products that hold this level and that are ready to be used by consumers.
We love projects. The earlier we can get involved in your projects the better. We have leading expertise in taking a digital solution from an idea to the drawing board and all the way to launch. We often describe ourselves as a project-based agency.
But we're not afraid of being thrown straight into deep water in an existing project. Several of our successful collaborations have started with an existing project that has needed an extra set of eyes (or five).
In Ur, we are not so preoccupied with terms such as “employment rate”, “hourly rate” or “staffing”. We care about delivering good projects, and good solutions.
“A product without goals is a product without meaning.”
This is one of the mantras we have in Ur. Over the past half decade, we have experienced many projects where the delivery is the focus of the project, without any thought as to what the delivery shall achieve.
We have gradually learned to steer all dialogues around new projects towards the question: “What are you trying to achieve here?” Whether the answer to the question is “New website”, “New app”, or “Better design” the next question is “Why?”
Establishing concrete needs and goals that the delivery and the project will achieve is one of the most important things we can do together to give you the value you want and deserve.
Most people in our industry work on an hourly rate. It shifts risk from the supplier to the customer, and incentivizes the supplier to spend as much time as possible on the project (within the limits of what you can tolerate, of course). We're not a big fan of this.
We prefer to work on a fixed price per project. If a project is to be further developed after completion, this will be added to a new fixed price.
“It's not in the spec” is not part of our active vocabulary. We work together to find the solutions that will most effectively take you to the goals we have put together.
If you want continuous assistance, it is also something we like to deliver in a fixed monthly framework with clear two-sided expectations.
We work best with you if we get to be part of your team. The main goal of cooperation is to solve your problems and make you achieve your goals. It is best done if we get a real ownership of what you are doing and what you are trying to achieve.
If you want a technology partner who is not interested in taking responsibility for overall progress, user experience, goals, good solutions, pragmatic work and who would rather just churn out a few lines of code (and get paid by the hour), then we are not the right partner.
We are a partner who takes responsibility for how we work, what we create, for how it affects their customers, and for how it positively affects their company. We are not afraid to offer advice and opinions that we believe are in your best interest, regardless of whether you agree or not. We strongly believe that committed and invested partners create the best results.
