The Lightbulb Man

The Lightbulb Man is an NFT art collection by Bjarne Melgaard, released on Ethereum by NFT AS. Ur Solutions built the website, developed and deployed the smart contracts, and contributed to the generative art development.

NFT AS and Bjarne Melgaard wanted to release Melgaard's visual language as an NFT collection on Ethereum. That required three things to come together: ERC721 smart contracts that were correct from the first block, a production method for a number of works with a range of variation that could not be solved by hand, and a website capable of handling both launch day and the ongoing secondary market.

Ur Solutions designed and built The Lightbulb Man's website, wrote and deployed the ERC721 smart contract that powers the Genesis collection, and assisted NFT AS with generative art development. The Genesis collection consists of 1,025 unique works, and more than 90 percent of the original holders still hold their NFT. Individual works have sold for up to 12 ETH. The smart contract also lets owners name their own works directly on the blockchain, the first time Melgaard has given titles to his artworks.
